So, it’s the first day of a new calendar year, and the first year of a whole new decade.
I’ve taken the opportunity to start this new blog for a few reasons. The main reasons are to document my pain as it occurs on a daily basis, both to show my Specialists and to give myself some perspective. Since I have also quit drinking and smoking and will be changing my diet drastically, I also want to document WHAT I am changing in my diet and how this affects my daily pain, among other things.
For those of you who don’t know me, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 20, along with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Interstitial Cystitis over the next few years after that. I will write a detailed post on the nature of my conditions later.
So here we go.
Woke up around 7am. Hands, including all finger joints, wrists, elbows, and shoulders were stiff as usual. Began to get more painful the more I moved around. Made more cake this morning, was barely able to hold the mixer upright for the amount of time needed. Had to stop for a few to rest my right arm. The longer I am awake the more my right shoulder hurts. That deep down burning pain, RIGHT in the joint. Spreading up over my shoulder, and sideways across my back in a pulsing fashion. Spine and neck are minimally sore at the moment. Only minor back stiffness and pain. So far I’d vote this day at a 7. I do have to work today so we will see what happens after that. Will write a second part to this entry when I get home from work.
Diet: cup of Okanagan Berry Roobois tea with milk and honey
Medication: none as of this writing
Currently around 4:40pm. Worked only two hours, did come grocery shopping and came home. My spine and hips are THROBBING, along with my shoulders of course. The spot on my spine that really seems to hurt is righ tin the middle, just under where my shoulder blades end, so theres a “blanket” of pain from basically where my bra sits, all the way up to my ears. And then throw in the jabby hip pain. Whee! This is why going back to work was a BAD idea. Was getting this stabbing pins and needles kind of pain, shooting from my shoulder to my finger tips as I walked to the Skytrain this morning. Took 2 – 200mg Motrin LiquiGels and one Tylenol 1 with Codeine just after arriving to work. Had a general feeling of fatigue and achiness all day. Easily tired, little to no stamina. Still have to finish Parkers Birthday cake, just need to assemble. Just took another 2 Motrin and 1 Tylenol1/Codeine. Should make it possible to finish the cake tonight. Have been feeling nauseated and headachey all day.
Diet: 4 cups water, 1 tall Creme Brulee Latte from Starbucks(gluten,dairy,processed sugars), 1 Cape Seed Roll(gluten), “Persian Snack”:Persian flat bread, cucumber slices, Cow feta cheese, fresh dill, fresh alfalfa sprouts
Medication: 4 – 200mg Motrin, 2 – 300mg Tylenol 1’s with Codeine
Supplements: omega-3’s, glucosamine/condroitin, accidopholus, tumeric/bromelian, folic acid
